John Lloyd resigns as Davis Cup Captain
The UK’s Davis cup captain John Lloyd has resigned from his post, following Great Britain’s recent defeat by Lithuania.
“I am very proud of my time as Davis Cup captain, and grateful to all the players for their support,” said Lloyd.
Davis cup coach Paul Annacone has also left his job and will concentrate on focusing on his job as head coach of men’s tennis.
LTA player director Steven Martens stated that Lloyd alone was not responsible for Britain’s recent tennis losses, and stated that he intended to look at all aspects of the men’s game in order to identify the nation’s tennis weaknesses.
Lawn Tennis Association chief executive Draper said that he would like to thank Lloyd for his efforts and achevements ” in particular.. his real achievement in guiding the team back into the World Group of the Davis Cup,”
