On-Form Djokovic Defeats Tsonga – Advances to Wimbledon 2011 Final
It was always going to be a tough game for Frenchman Jo Wilfried Tsonga, regardless of his peak condition and recent form (second place at Queens and a phenomenal comeback and win from 2 sets down against Roger Federer in the Wimbledon men’s semi-final). Novak Dkokovic started strong – taking first set comfortably 7-6 then proceeded to steamroll the Frenchman – winning 6-2 in the following set. Tsonga pulled back a set in the third (6-7) utilising all the grace and finesse he possessed when it was required – but he was unable to claw back another set, losing 6-3 in the final onslaught by the Serb.
